National Healthcare Decisions Day Set for April 16
Making a Living Will is easy – and the right thing to do

Hospice of Marion County is leading a local effort to highlight the importance of advance healthcare decision-making—an effort that has culminated in the formal designation of April 16 as National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD). As a participating organization, Hospice of Marion County is providing free Living Wills and the opportunity to meet with a counselor to discuss these documents on Thursday, April 16, 2:00-4:30 p.m. at its main office located at 3231 SW 34th Avenue, Ocala, FL 34474. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are recommended. Call (352) 854-5238 for a specific time. Living Wills are available every day of the year, but the counselors will only be onsite that afternoon.

“As a result of National Healthcare Decisions Day, many more people in our community can be expected to have thoughtful conversations about their healthcare decisions and complete reliable advance directives to make their wishes known,” said Lila Ivey, Director of Community Outreach. “Fewer families and healthcare providers will have to struggle with making difficult healthcare decisions in the absence of guidance from the patient, plus healthcare providers will be better equipped to address advance healthcare planning issues before a crisis. Honoring patient wishes is more likely when an advance directive is in place.”
