Schiavo is virtually a synonym for epic questions about end of life and who gets to make decisions. From 1990 to 2003 a family decision was moved into the courts and public arena. In 2003, then Florida Governor Jeb Bush appointed Jay Wolfson as special guardian for Terri Schiavo to read and review her records and make a report on her condition to Gov. Jeb Bush and the Florida courts. Terri died on March 31, 2005. Jay Wolfson, Professor of Public Health and Medicine, University of South Florida, will discuss this case that has contributed as much as any other to our national debate on death and dying.
