For some, the expectation of a smooth transition to ICD-10 fell short. Agencies have found that the increased specificity and knowledge required for ICD-10 is overwhelming. RTPs for incorrect codes are affecting reimbursements. Problems with in-house coding are resulting in decreased productivity, compliance, and cash flow. In addition, changes involving the 7th character A and the excludes 1 and 2 notes have created more compliance challenges.

Continuous training for coders and clinicians is vital. Focusing on referral sources and adequate referral information is essential. Specific information is needed to accurately code patients. Knowledge of the coding rules and guidelines is key to getting the most accurate and optimal reimbursement possible. This webinar will review the most common ICD-10 challenges, address the new changes, and provide strategies and tips for moving forward.
