THERE’S STILL TIME TO SIGN UP FOR THE HEARTS FOR HOSPICE 5K

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (October 22, 2015) – Registration is still open for the Hearts for Hospice 5K run, walk and one mile fun run on Sunday, Nov. 15.

Formerly known as the Hike for Hospice, the now Hearts for Hospice 5K will be at Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park, in New Port Richey with a scenic run and walk for experienced and beginning runners alike. Registration and check-in begins at 7 a.m. The 5K run begins promptly at 8 a.m. and the new one mile fun run will immediately follow. After the 5K concludes, a special memorial ceremony will be held to remember loved ones.

New this year, Marvelous Marvin will be broadcasting live from the event on the Hits 106 radio station. Participants can register online at HeartsforHospice5K.org. Those who register by Nov. 11 will be entered to win a Fitbug from Humana. Cost is $25 for adults, $15 for students ages 11 through college and $10 for kids 10 and under. Prizes will be awarded to the top fundraisers and fastest runners. Hearts for Hospice 5K is presented by Bouchard Insurance. Current event sponsors include AC-Healthcare, BB&T and Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home (Guardian Angel Sponsors); Eternal Cremations, Laser Rite Document Solutions, Medfleet, Inc and O2 Solutions (Stars & Stripes Sponsors); Achieva Credit Union, Christie Auto Sales & Service, Inc., Hospice Link, Kiwanis Club of Greater West Pasco, and Oldano & Associates (American Eagle Sponsors). Parking at the event is provided by O2 Solutions.

All proceeds will be used to provide patient care and bereavement services for Pasco County residents facing life-limiting illness and their families. Since 2007, the Hike for Hospice, now called Hearts for Hospice 5K, has raised more than $400,000 for patients and their families.

Gulfside Hospice, established as a nonprofit corporation in Pasco County in 1988 and initially licensed in 1989, serves more than 350 patients daily. Gulfside employs over 250 professionals and has more than 500 volunteers, and is the only hospice that serves Pasco County exclusively.
