Hospitals partner with hospices to offer patients palliative care. Palliative care programs can be found in different settings: physician Part B groups, home health agencies, nursing homes, contract arrangements between hospices and hospitals, nurse liaisons, or managed care organizations. This webinar will describe ways to structure a palliative care program and the available Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement revenue streams. It will cover pertinent legal issues, including compliance with state license laws, corporate practice of medicine, anti-kickback, physician self-referral, patient inducement, fee splitting, and cost report rules. Similarities between palliative care programs and healthcare models under the Affordable Care Act will also be addressed.
