The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) have raised serious concerns about potential misuse of the general inpatient (GIP) level of care – both overutilization and underutilization. This level of care has serious, complex medical issues that require greater levels of expertise and attention.  Even though GIP may not be used frequently by a hospice, it is highly scrutinized by authorities.  This webinar will explain the requirements for the GIP level of care and dispel common myths about using and delivering this level of care.  Concrete, practical examples of how GIP should and should not be used will be provided, as well as an explanation of expected documentation.
