Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care seeks volunteers in Orlando and other areas of Orange County, including Apopka, Alafaya, Dr. Phillips, Edgewood, Winter Park and Pine Hills.

Volunteer opportunities include patient companionship, honoring Veterans, assisting with patients’ pets, bereavement calls, Speakers Bureau, pet therapy, and shifts at their Cornerstone Care Unit at ORMC.

“Being a Cornerstone Hospice volunteer is very rewarding,” said Kristine Murtz Ryan, MA, Volunteer Services Manager. “One volunteer recently shared that she had the privilege of sitting with a 90-year-old patient who told wonderful stories about her youth. The volunteer said she would never forget the smiles they shared.”

A new volunteer training will take place on Saturday, May 5, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Cornerstone Hospice, located at 5655 S. Orange Avenue, in Orlando. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Training is free and Cornerstone Hospice volunteers can choose the geographic areas where they’ll support patients. Bilingual speakers are encouraged to join Cornerstone’s volunteer team.
