Definition:

As a member of the Executive Team, the Vice President of People is responsible for directing all of the people functions of the organization in accordance with the policies and practices of Treasure Coast Hospice. Provide overall strategic leadership to the company for HR initiatives; recruitment, compensation, benefits, training and employee relations. Works closely and coaches executive team to ensure alignment with the overall mission and strategy. Ensure policies, procedures and HR programs are consistently administered, aligned with organizational goals and are in compliance with professional standards, state and federal regulatory requirements and employment laws.

Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in healthcare or leadership preferred. 10-15 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Proven ability to facilitate change, motivate improvement and lead individuals and teams to best performance. High skill set in effective communication (listening, speaking and written), with proven past experience in re-direction of teams through change and challenging situations.  Proficient in Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Human Resources Information System (HRIS).

Under the guidance of the CEO, the Vice President is also responsible for the providing strategic human resource planning to provide the organization with the best people talent available and to position the organization as the employer of choice by being aware of policies, practices and trends within the healthcare industry. Champion a culture of engagement and in turn drive the appropriate behaviors to positively impact the organization.  Provide comprehensive, value-added consultation with leaders on all aspects of employee relations.   Leads and directs staff to achieve the mission, vision, values and behaviors of Treasure Coast Hospice through role modeling and collaboration.  Attendance is a condition of employment.

Key Result Areas:

  • Plans, develops, organizes, implements, directs and evaluates the organization's human resource function and performance.
  • Participates in the development of the organization's plans and programs as a strategic partner, but particularly from the perspective of the impact on people.
  • Evaluates and advises on the impact of long-range planning of new programs/strategies and regulatory action as those items affect the attraction, motivation, development and retention of the people resources of the organization.
  • Develops staffing strategies and implementation plans and programs to identify talent within and outside the organization for positions of responsibility. Identifies appropriate and effective external sources for candidates for all levels within the organization.
  • Develops progressive and proactive compensation and benefits programs to provide motivation, incentives and rewards for effective performance.
  • Continually assesses the competitiveness of all programs and practices against the relevant comparable companies, industries and markets.
  • Develops appropriate policies and programs for effective management people resources, including employee relations, affirmative action, sexual harassment, employee complaints, external education and career development.
  • Enhances and/or develops implements and enforces HR policies and procedures of the organization maintains knowledge of HR policies, programs, laws and issues.
  • Provides technical advice and knowledge to others within the human resource discipline.
  • Manages the budget and other financial measures of the HR department.
  • Continuous improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the HR Team as well as for providing individuals with professional and personal growth opportunities.
  • Oversee the successful management and administration of the Volunteers’ Department.
  • Successfully completes all other projects as assigned.
  • Serve as the Co-Chair of the organizations Compensation Committee.
  • Fulfill all responsibilities related to the success of the strategic plan of the organization, as requested and assigned.
  • Participate as an active supporter of the Treasure Coast Hospice compliance program, including the emphasis to report, as well as complying with all Federal, State and Local laws as well as the organization’s compliance program.  Serve on the organizations Compliance Committee quarterly.

Additional Information:

Incumbent may be required to perform emergency duty before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency, crisis situation or disaster (man-made or natural) including evacuation sites. The person in the position will work in a smoke-free location, and is expected to adhere to all smoking restrictions.
