Regardless of how long you’ve been doing it, QAPI is not easy. Success takes time, an understanding of the concepts, and complete staff involvement. It’s worth every bit of the effort though; QAPI helps improve patient – and therefore agency – outcomes, which are so necessary in today’s pay-for-performance environment with five-star ratings and value-based purchasing.
QAPI also will help your agency avoid the crisis du jour mindset – the daily ”putting out fires” grind - and instead fix the root of the problems! This will then free up the time needed to ensure your QAPI program is a good one. As you progress with quality indicators, your compliance with clinical documentation, processes, and home visits will also increase.
