Why worry about effective electronic writing? In the battle for reader attention, thoughtfully written, carefully worded email messages and social media posts that are on-target and free from mechanical errors are sure to come out on top. Messages and posts that are ill-conceived or badly written can delay decision-making and stall your career. Content that is filled with grammar goofs, spelling slipups, and punctuation problems can turn off readers and call your professionalism into question. Tone-deaf texts and tweets that are offensive, hostile, or otherwise inappropriate can trigger workplace lawsuits, negative publicity, and other disasters. Designed for those who seek real and immediate improvement in their electronic writing, this program delivers. Bonus: Within two weeks after viewing the live or on-demand webinar, each participant may submit up to three email messages or social media posts (three pages maximum) to writing coach Nancy Flynn for professional review, critique, and comments. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to receive individual guidance from a leading writing instructor!

This insightful program will review Medicare eligibility requirements, the required hospice admission documentation, including both technical and clinical requirements, and address what qualifies a person for hospice. There will be a segment regarding key disease states facing hospice agencies today, and what clinical symptoms and conditions should be present and documented to support a primary diagnosis. The program will highlight key areas of payment denials agencies can avoid by understanding Medicare hospice eligibility. For agencies in areas of enhanced or extended payment oversight (CA, NV, TX, AZ), this will be a great course to help your agency understand appropriate hospice admissions and how to document to support hospice eligibility. If you are new to hospice, this session will be a great investment in new staff and new agency owners. It will also serve as an excellent refresher course for all hospice staff.

While the State Operations Manual Appendix M – Guidance to Surveyors: Hospice provides guidance to ensure hospices are compliant with the conditions of participation and related standards for survey readiness, hospices must also ensure documentation meets the benefit coverage requirements so that claims are paid and/or not recouped under medical review audits. This session will address the difference between the hospice conditions of payment and conditions of participation and prepare your agency to be survey ready and ADR/medical review audit ready at all times. It will provide compliance tips, frequent denial reasons, and advice to attain and maintain survey readiness.

End-of-life care is not like flipping hamburgers at McDonald’s and it never can be. Hospice caregivers are there to assist people who are suffering and what they do should never just be “routine.” Experiences such as burnout, compassion fatigue, moral distress, and even upset in personal lives can diminish care at the bedside. The task at hand is to assist each and every person to have “their best possible end-of-life experience” and that can’t happen when the caregiver themself becomes an obstacle. This webinar will take a deep and potentially difficult look at engaging in personal and professional insight on a regular basis to ensure staff are “more today than they were yesterday.” It will also explore helping teams self-assess how to function more effectively.
