As volunteer managers, it’s important to remember that we cannot allow volunteer services to harm patients/families, staff, fellow volunteers, or the organization. A volunteer with potentially problematic behavior places the organization and others in harm’s way. While it is not easy to terminate anyone – especially a volunteer – sometimes it is necessary. As with staff, the preferable outcome is to coach or redirect the volunteer toward positive behaviors. This webinar will address reasons it can be difficult to approach volunteers and how to overcome those barriers. It will also cover the skills necessary to coach, guide, redirect, and terminate if necessary.
