A meaningful volunteer opportunity awaits those who are compassionate, have good listening skills and are willing to help those who are facing a life limiting illness.

Anyone interested in volunteering for Florida Hospital HospiceCare is invited to attend a “Hospice 101” prospective volunteer session on January 13 at 10 a.m. at the Reflections office building at 770 W Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach.

Florida Hospital HospiceCare, a faith based, not for profit organization and is the only Joint Commission accredited hospice agency in Volusia and Flagler counties is looking to expand the volunteer corps due to increasing demand for volunteer support. Volunteers are needed to visit patients, provide respite, companionship, assist at our in-patient units, offer spiritual support, help with administrative office tasks, or attend special events.

Prospective volunteers must be able to pass a background clearance, provide proof of health in good standing, and have a comfort level in working with terminally ill patients and their families. A one year commitment is required. All training is provided.

For more information or to RSVP, call Barbara Cady at (386) 671-4761.
