Thank you, Representative Greg Steube, (FL-17th) for introducing the FL/NC/SC joint letter to Dr. Oz into the record at the Ways & Means Committee Hearing on hospice fraud and abuse on April 21. The gist of the letter is those states with robust regulatory systems and oversight (like Florida) are NOT experiencing hospice fraud and abuse and hospice providers in those states should not be subjected to the same onerous corrective measures as the states where fraud and abuse is occurring. It is completely appropriate for CMS to use its authority for highly focused enforcement by investigating the specific companies displaying the warning signs of fraud and abuse.
