Description:

 

PRN position – One team meeting and calls during the week – approximately 5-7 hours on average. We currently have this position set up as an employed position but would consider private contractors as well. 

 

The Hospice Physician is an employed physician who provides medical care and treatment for the patients served by Suncoast Hospice Pinellas County care teams.

 

+ Provides physician direction and guidance to the Suncoast Hospice program to assure the maintenance of quality care for patients and families.

 

+ Participates in the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meeting, performs certification, recertification, provides symptom control expertise, performs clinical visits in the home or inpatient setting and provides regulatory visits to meet recertification requirements.

 

+ Serves as an educator and researcher of hospice care.

Position Requirements

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Board certification by an American Board of Medical Specialties recognized specialty that deals with care of the terminally ill, such as Pediatrics
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Florida
  • Knowledge and experience in palliative medical practice and symptom management
  • Minimum of three years post graduate medical practice experience
  • Valid Florida driver’s license and automobile insurance as per agency policies
  • Ability to make home/residence visits
  • Basic keyboarding and computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word or comparable programs
  • Must be or become a member in good standing of the medical staff of an accredited hospital within the service area of Suncoast Hospice

Pediatric LPN – Nights

At Suncoast Hospice, the Pediatric LPN is responsible for identifying Patient/Family needs and coordinating Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) provision of services under physician’s orders. Under the direction of the Primary Pediatric RN, the LPN utilizes monitoring, intervention, and teaching skills to maximize patient comfort and enhance the quality of life for the Patient/Family unit.  The Suncoast Hospice LPN is supervised and collaborates with Primary Pediatric RN and/or Director of Palliative Services.

Position Requirements

1. Florida Licensed Practical Nurse.
2. IV Certification is required.
3. Must pass a pre-employment Pharmacology Exam.
4. Must be willing and able to successfully complete pre-employment computer literacy evaluation and keyboarding skills assessment.
