Role: Supports one or more IT business systems to provide the maintenance, development, training, and security of the IT systems for the Company. Responsibilities include report development, technical support for computer system on an agency-wide basis, system upgrades and testing, training, vendor management, and various related tasks that may be assigned by management.

Responsibilities:

Support assigned IT system. 

  • Manage vendor as appropriate. 
  • Ensure all interfaces with this system are working properly. 
  • Provide Training as required.
  • Provide “help desk” support for users.
  • Communicate new IT system functionality to users as it is available.
  • Maintain test environment to QA test upgrades, patches, and new functionality; coordinate user acceptance testing.
  • Provide Level 1 technical support for issues and escalate issues to systems vendor as required.

 

Manage upgrades:

  • Develop work plan for major upgrades.
  • Maintain documentation related to upgrade/patch.
  • Organize and oversee testing for upgrades and patches.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing with Business Owners.
  • Coordinate with other CIT staff, as needed, to facilitate upgrade/patch.

Provide Level 3 technical support for issues and escalate issues to systems vendor as required.

  • Work with IT systems vendors’ Support and Development team as appropriate.
  • Set up new users, manage security, and remove computer access for terminated employees.
  • Maintain roles and workflows modify as needed.
  • Manage all related projects through full systems life cycle.  Use corporate development methodology as appropriate.
  • Log all system issues in tracking software. 
  • Respond to assigned tickets within SLA.
  • Coordinate complete and accurate systems documentation as required
  • Assist in CIT training as part of the Company orientation for all new employees.
  • Work with other team members to coordinate related functionality and interfaces.

Role: The Corporate Coding Specialist performs coding and abstracting for all Chapters Health System subsidiaries including hospice, physician services, palliative care and PACE encounters.  The Corporate Coding Specialist analyzes and interprets the documentation in the medical record and abstracts the data elements into the electronic medical record utilizing ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding systems.

 

Qualifications:

  • Candidate should be eligible or have one or more of the following credentials: RHIA or RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CCA, CPC, CEMC.  If candidate is eligible to take one of the certification exams, they must obtain their certification within twelve months of employment.
  • Minimum of two years of health information management and/or physician/ancillary coding experience
  • Associates degree or higher preferred
  • Completion of a coding certificate program with American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) approval status preferred
  • Knowledge of database applications and spreadsheet design
  • Knowledge of: ICD-9-CM, and CPT coding guidelines; medical terminology; anatomy and physiology; Medicare/Medicaid hospice and palliative care reimbursement guidelines

  • Serves as a coding resource to the medical staff to provide feedback regarding documentation requirements for correct coding
  • Performs coding for physician encounters at the minimum productivity and quality performance levels.
  • Assists Lead Corporate Coding Specialist with suggestions for coding and documentation education based on findings during record abstracting
  • Communicates with medical staff as needed to clarify documentation for appropriate code assignment
  • Reviews National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits in conjunction with Accounts Receivable to resolve pre-billing edits related to coding
