Treasure Coast Hospice shows the healing power of art for Children’s Grief Awareness Day

Thursday, November 19 marks this year’s annual Children’s Grief Awareness Day.  In recognition of this day, Treasure Coast Hospice is hosting “Art from the HeART”.  Families are welcome to join the Treasure Coast Hospice Counseling Services Youth and Family Program on November 19 for a guided painting class led by the owner of Quench Your Palette at the Mayes Center for Hope at 1201 SE Indian Street in Stuart, FL or a drawing experience at the Thomas Counseling Center at 5000 Dunn Road in Fort Pierce, FL .

TCHCS Youth and Family Program offers support to grieving children and their families. The program uses art activities such as photography, painting and arts and crafts to help children through their grief. The program staff also offers individual and family counseling, support groups, community groups, crisis support and many other services to aid in the grief process.

“Children’s Grief Awareness Day is a special day set aside to acknowledge that children do grieve and, as a community, we need to support them,” Jacki Nardone, TCH Director of Counseling Services, said. “We are so happy to be able to provide for families’ needs through our grief and loss center.”

The community is urged to wear blue on this day to show support for the many grieving children in the area.

Anyone wishing to join TCHCS Youth and Family Program for a fun art activity must register at 772-403-4530 no later than November 17. Space is limited.  The event is free at Thomas Counseling Center  and $15 per adult and $10 per child at Mayes Center for Hope.
