Finally! A webinar on how to have the Part D conversation! The Part D changes require a specific set of skills, techniques, and interventions in order to conduct effective conversations with patients and families about medications and coverage. One challenge is to separate the “backstage language” that we providers use to discuss Part D coverage and replace it with language and a focus that is person-centered. This can be challenging and, if not handled skillfully, has the potential for significant problems and dissatisfaction. This webinar is designed to help managers, clinical leaders, and care providers understand and navigate the inherent challenges and focus on skills needed to conduct potentially difficult conversations.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Having the “discontinuation of medications” conversation
  • Addressing “it might seem to be related but it is not” – reasonable and necessary
  • Discussing medication changes – formulary and generic concerns
  • The team’s role in assisting with these conversations
  • Being person-centered and assertive
  • Assuring a focus on the quality of life and the needs of patients/families
